WILL YOU TELL ME IF THE RISK OF KEEPING MY AGGRESSIVE DOG IS TOO GREAT? WILL YOU DISCUSS THE OPTIONS OF REHOMING OR EUTHANASIA?
Behaviour problems take a lot of time and work to improve and in some cases the multiplicity of triggers for aggression are such that it may be impossible to ensure that the risk of aggression will be removed. Hence, in aggression cases it is important to have realistic expectations for what can be achieved and the potential dangers inherent in persevering with treatment. In many cases, management strategies and techniques can be put in place to overcome or at least reduce the risk of aggressive behaviour. In other cases, considerable risks will remain, even when the incidence of aggression is reduced. Either way, once your behaviourist has fully assessed your pet's problem, they will be able to make an informed risk assessment of the situation and to discuss the options with you.
