Relax and enjoy your stay in a 200 year old farmhouse set in beautiful surroundings with views overlooking the black mountains.

Your bed and breakfast accommodation offers comfortable bedrooms with en-suite facilities.

Some rooms are reserved for owners who wish to take their dog into their bedroom, others are reserved for owners who prefer dog-free sleeping arrangements and whose dogs are content to sleep in their car.

The accommodation is 5 minutes walk from your course venue.

There are many pubs in the area offering excellent quality and value meals.

 COURSE CONTENT MONDAY—FRIDAY (APRIL TO SEPTEMBER)

This 5 day course is intended for dog owners who wish to understand their pet a little better and who wish to provide for its emotional needs.

Each day consists of two morning lectures followed by a ‘hands on’ training session. Tea & coffee breaks will separate sessions. Owners  and pets can then enjoy the environment for the rest of the  day.

DAY 1: MONDAY

Behaviour: Where the dog came from?

Learning: Introduction to the theory.

Training: Introduction to reward based training.

DAY 2: TUESDAY

Behaviour:Genetic/inherited influences on the young dog.

Learning: Associative learning Part 1.

Training: Basic clicker training.

DAY 3: WEDNESDAY  

Behaviour: Environmental influences on the young dog.

Learning: Associative learning Part 2.

Training: Target training.

DAY 4: THURSDAY

Behaviour: What dogs want  - welfare & needs.

Learning: Welfare and learning.

Training: Rally obedience.

DAY 5: FRIDAY

Behaviour: Frequent problems in domestic homes.

Learning: Creating training plans.

Training: Agility.

 28th June - The Rescue Dog - Why do some human-dog relationships lead to rescue?

A re-run of our popular course that was so ell received last autumn.

6th September - Aggressive dogs - Scared or scary?

20th September - Is this environment cat friendly? Why cats may find domestic life stressful? What can owners and veterinary practices do to reduce the level of stress for cats in their care?

TWO DAY COURSE:

12th and 13th July - How Well Do I Know My Dog?  An introduction to understanding dogs and the way that they learn.
